It is about 80 kilometers from the city of Mysore on the route to a major tourist destination of Ooty. Bandipur is known for its wildlife also there is a ban on traffic from 9 pm to 6 am of dusk to dawn to help bring down the death rate of wildlife.

Bandipur is around 100kms from Mysore. Plan to visit Himavad Gopala Swamy hills also. You can do a 1 day visit or plan to stay overnight in many of the resorts in the vicinity. Roads are good from Mysore and you will have a pleasant trip particularly if you are a nature and wildlife lover.
